COMMENT:

Super rare oversized UK promotional lithograph poster by anonymous street artist Banksy for the 2003 release of Brit pop band Blur's seventh studio album Think Tank. In a rare foray into commercial work for the elusive Banksy, he created designs for the entire marketing campaign including album and single covers, vinyl and CD promo's, as well as the press ads, posters and large-sized fly sheets.

This is a highly prized and sought after poster. Not just because of it's fantastic size, this Bus Stop poster only had the date 05.05.03 with no mention of the band Blur. Simply the art work itself, it was distributed in and around London as a "teaser" poster until the release launch date at bus stops and train stations. Only the really savvy Blur fans knew the true meaning of the poster.

The original cover art sold at auction in 2007 for £75,000. Banksy later said of the collaboration: "I've done a few things to pay the bills and I did the Blur album. It was a good record and the commission was quite a lot of money. I think that's a really important distinction to make. If it's something you actually believe in, doing something commercial doesn't turn it to sh*t just because it's commercial".
