SUPER RARE UNIQUE POSTER!!!

+++ 1993 Space Explorers 9th PLANETARY CONGRESS POSTER, Vienna, Austria - including 55 original signatures of Astronauts & Cosmonauts!

This poster commemorates the 9th Planetary Congress of the Association of Space Explorers (ASE). The Congress took place October 10-17, 1993 in Vienna, Austria. Bearing the authentic signatures of fifty-five of the participating astronauts from fourteen nations, it is part of a series of limited collector's edition posters that have been produced and signed at each ASE Congress since the Association was founded in 1985. One hundred and thirty-three posters were signed at the 9th Congress.

The poster has two headings, the main heading in English at the top, with the Russian displayed at the bottom. Around the periphery are printed translations of “Associa- tion of Space Explorers” in the native languages of all individuals who have flown in space. Clockwise, from upper left with English at the top, they include Vietnamese, Italian, Bulgarian, Afghan, Hindi, Mongolian, German, French, Romanian, Dutch, Japanese, Czech, Arabic, Polish, Spanish, Hungarian and Kazakh. The background is taken from NASA archive photo # 83 HC 213 which has been used for each set of posters in the series.

The central image of the poster represents the Congress theme “Space for Life.” The image shows a stylized spacecraft superimposed over a painting of Earth; the rays represent the critical link between knowledge, education and space exploration , particularly for tomorrow's explorers, the world's youth . The image illustrates the conviction of ASE members that space technologies and exploration not only benefit life on Earth but also educate and inspire students to academic excellence.

Among the numerous silver ink signatures are some well-known names: Buzz Aldrin (second moonwalker on Apollo 11, also Gemini 12), Valeri Bykovsky (still holds world solo spaceflight record of five days on Vostok 5, also Soyuz 22 & 31), Scott Carpenter (second American to orbit the earth), Gerald Carr (Skylab 4), Walt Cunningham (Apollo 7), Owen Garriott (Skylab 3, STS-9), Ed Gibson (Skylab 4), Alexei Leonov (first person to walk in space on Voskhod 2, also Apollo-Soyuz), Jack Lousma (Skylab 3, STS-3), James Lovell (Gemini 7 & 12, Apollo 8 & 13), Bruce McCandless (STS-41-B, STS-31), Pavel Popovich (the fourth cosmonaut in space on Vostok 4, also Soyuz 14), Stuart Roosa (Apollo 14), Valentina Tereshkova (first woman in space on Vostok 6), and Gherman Titov (second person to orbit the earth on Vostok 2, still holds world record for youngest person to fly in space).
